We all understand the importance of washing our hands to prevent the spread of germs and parasites, however, if you’re washing with a toxin-filled soap, you may be doing more harm than good.
Here’s a super simple recipe for making non-toxic hand soap from easy-to-obtain products. Links are below the video.
Gather your supplies:
~ Foaming hand soap pump
~ Canning jar
~ Dr. Bronner’s Castile soap in your favorite scent
~ Water
I used a canning jar that I had on hand. If you don’t have a stash, look for jars at your local resale shops or garage sales. Dollar General usually has them for cheap too. And be sure to make a note of whether it is a regular mouth or wide mouth jar. You can purchase foaming hand soap pump dispensers for either size. You’ll just want to buy the right ones so they match.
Here’s an Amazon link to help you find the foaming hand soap dispenser lids. They come in a variety of colors and finishes so you can get them to match your bathroom or kitchen.
Foaming Hand Soap Dispenser on Amazon. I use this one which comes in silver, black, or dark bronze.
Next you’ll want to grab some Dr. Bronner’s Castile Soap in your preferred scent. I love peppermint, citrus, and lavender and have big bottles of each of them in my home. Or if you have a favorite essential oil scent, you can use unscented castile soap and add 25 drops of essential oil to the jar.
You can usually find Dr. Bronner’s products at Amazon, local health food stores, use your Thrive Market account if you have one, or from my Fullscript store where you’ll automatically get 10% off your purchase. You’ll find a variety of Dr. Bronner’s Castile soaps in my “Favorites” lists under the heading “Personal Care Products” at Fullscript.
Have fun making suds!!! And by the way, these make great gifts too!
