There’s nothing more frustrating than social media algorithm changes that render your marketing strategy completely ineffective! Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest…they all do it to you.
After months of trial and error, of researching and working to understand how to make the most of the platform, after carefully devising a marketing plan and finding just the right balance—WHAM!

They change the algorithm and suddenly your stats plummet and your realize your marketing strategy no longer works with the new system. Back to the drawing board!

That’s what happened to me this past April 2018 when Pinterest implemented a major algorithm change.

Did you know that many bloggers report that Pinterest drives 65 – 80% of their site traffic? Amazing, right? Who knew this “platform of pictures” would become so popular and be the incredible marketing machine that it is today.

Pinterest now receives approximately 250 million visitors each month! Surely you can find people who are interested in your products or services among a group that size.

But only if you snag their attention!

There’s also 175 billion pins on Pinterest, so you need to make sure your pins are tailored to grab the attention of your ideal audience.

If you hang around me for long, you’ll know that I think Pinterest is one of the best marketing platforms for online businesses. Because at its nature Pinterest is a search engine, with the right techniques and strategies, you can gain amazing traffic almost immediately.

I began doing some affiliate marketing on Pinterest a few weeks before I started my blog. It was a new Pinterest profile with only about 25 followers at the time. However, I was able to make $90 in sales the first week because I’d managed to get my keywords right and find a few group boards that helped my pins go viral.

Podcasts are a great way to expand your knowledge and continue to grow and learn, and when I find an amazing podcast for bloggers and online entrepreneurs, I’m in heaven!

I am thrilled and amazed that these successful business people take time each week to record a podcast full of juicy tips and information and put it out there in the digital space for me to download and listen for FREE!

I’ve always loved learning and the educational process, but let’s face it, a person can only go to college for so many years before the cost and the time drain gets prohibitive.

I am a huge believer that every person should celebrate milestones. Every. Single. Time!

Like many bloggers, I take some time each month or quarter to stop, look around and take inventory of where I’m at, how things in my business are progressing, what posts have been most trafficked, how many followers I’m gaining, etc.

These kinds of progress checks are critical if you want to run a successful online business. You have to take time to assess what’s working and what’s not and adjust your strategy, right?

Sometimes, like this month, I discover that I’ve reached some significant milestones that are worth celebrating.

Affiliate marketing is one of the easiest ways to start earning money online and one of the most popular. Bloggers partner with companies that need help marketing their products or services. The bloggers spread the word, and when someone makes a purchase or performs a specific action (like signing up for an email list) based on their recommendation, the blogger receives a commission.

Affiliate Program vs. Affiliate Network

What’s the difference between an affiliate program and an affiliate network? When you become an affiliate for one particular program—say an online class you took or a service you use—you’re working directly with the creator or their staff and you typically have just one product or company to promote.

Who doesn’t love some easy money? One of my favorite ways to earn is by finding ways to make money doing tasks and making purchases that were on my agenda anyway. Enter the cash back programs! If I can get back 2%, 5% or 10% cash back for a needed purchase, that’s a total win in my book.

I’ve been working the credit card points program and using Swagbucks to rack up gift cards for a long time, but recently I decided to explore a few more programs that allow you to earn CASH for shopping and surfing and engaging in activities you’d be doing anyway.

If you use Pinterest to market your blog or online business, you’ve inevitably run up against the question of how to hide Pinterest images within your post. Let’s talk honestly! Pinterest images are really large, larger than the other social media platforms use. They take up a huge amount of room in a post.
